Spring in the Brazos Valley is beautiful. It’s also muddy, rainy, and absolutely crawling with fleas and ticks. If you’re traveling with pets right now, a little prep goes a long way.

Flea and Tick Prevention Is Not Optional Right Now

Texas spring is peak season for fleas and ticks, and the wet weather makes it worse. Keep your pets on a flea and tick preventative, and don’t skip it. Remember, pets can swallow fleas while grooming themselves, and those fleas can carry tapeworm larvae. One missed dose can turn into a vet bill (and a very uncomfortable pet). Talk to your vet about what’s right for your animal, and stay consistent.

Muddy Paws Are a Real Thing

Rain + grass + happy dog = a mess in your rig. Keep a dedicated paw-wipe station at your door. A small bin with a wet towel or microfiber mat works great. Towel off before they come inside and you’ll save yourself a lot of cleanup.

The Dog Park Is Right Here

Galloping Snail has two fenced dog parks on-site, one smaller and one larger, so your pup can burn energy without you chasing them across a muddy field. Hang the leash on the fence and let them run.

When They Need a Real Bath

If your dog is past the point of a quick towel-off, Lucky Dog Wash and Grooming in College Station is worth the drive. They’ve got self-serve wash stations with big tubs and good shampoos, no mess at your place. They offer full-service baths, professional grooming, and nail trims, too. Open seven days a week.
