If you’re trying to figure out weekend plans, here’s one that just landed on our radar. Cowgirl Market sets up at the Brazos County Expo Center this Saturday and Sunday, August 15 and 16. Doors open at noon both days, running until 6 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday.
Not familiar with it? Cowgirl Market is a traveling western-style vendor show. Turquoise jewelry, denim, leather goods, handmade pieces, that kind of thing. It’s not your average flea market with a random folding table selling phone cases. This one leans into the western lifestyle look, and it’s built a real following. The same event pops up in Stillwater, Oklahoma and Texarkana too, but this weekend it’s ours.
We poked around for a vendor list to give you names to look for, and there isn’t an official one posted, but a scroll through the Cowgirl Market’s Instagram turned up quite a few names. Keep an eye out for Cowgirl Candy Silver Company, The Broke Ranchwife, and Rowdy Ranch Western Wear If names like that don’t already have you sold, this market may not be for you. What we do know is vendors who’ve done this show before keep coming back, and more than one has said it’s one of the better-run markets they’ve worked. So if you’re the type who likes browsing handmade goods and actually talking to the person who made them, this is worth an afternoon.
Here’s the practical part. The Expo Center is right around the corner from us, close enough that if you’re coming from out of town for the market, staying at Galloping Snail beats fighting Saturday traffic getting in and out of the Expo Center. Park the rig Friday night, walk over Saturday morning, and break in your new boots on the walk back.
No pressure if shopping’s not your thing this weekend. But if it is, come check out the market, and rest your shells with us while you’re in town.
